That extends to the content we publish on Digest, which is why our articles about veterinary topics are reviewed by veterinarians. You can tell an article has been reviewed by a vet because it bears a checkmark with the words “Vet Reviewed” beside it.

Veterinary reviews may be conducted by the on-staff, board-certified nutritionists who formulate our recipes, other on-staff veterinarians, or trusted third-party DVMs or VMDs. While your veterinarian is the person who’s most qualified to give you advice about your own pet, we do everything we can to make sure the content we publish is accurate, reliable, and trustworthy.

Here, we’ll explain what goes into vet review, and why it matters.

What is our vet-review process?

Once we’ve written and edited a story with veterinary information, we send it to a licensed veterinarian.

The veterinarian then reads the draft. They submit their suggested changes, and we update the article accordingly. Only after this stage can we publish the story with a “Vet Reviewed” badge.

Why is veterinary review important?

Like The Farmer’s Dog food, Digest is based on science, with evidence backing every assertion. Veterinary review adds an extra layer of scientific rigor to our reporting, which already includes interviews with other veterinary professionals and references to published papers. Our veterinary reviewers highlight nuance on complex subjects and fact-check what we’ve written.

Because, just as you can be confident in the choice to feed your dog The Farmer’s Dog, we want you to know that you can be confident in the information you read on Digest.

Here’s how we make sure the information we publish about dogs’ health is accurate, and why it matters.

[416,418

post-46254","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health-wellness","category-science-research
["GET
