- Dog available for adoption in Florida
- Dog available for adoption in Pennsylvania
- Dog available for adoption in New Jersey
You’ve made a list and checked it twice. Safe, loving home? Check. Time to dedicate to food transition, exercise, and extra smooches? Check. A heart that you don’t think can grow three sizes, Grinch-style—but you’re open to being proven wrong? Check. Congrats; you’re ready to adopt a dog!
Our animal shelter and rescue partners, who work hard all year ‘round to find great homes for great dogs, have sent us a few deserving sweeties for your consideration. And you’re in luck. It just so happens that each of the dogs below is the best dog there ever was.
We want to help set these guys up for success in their new lives, so whoever adopts each of the dogs below in the next calendar month will receive their first box of The Farmer’s Dog for free. Additionally, they’ll receive $300 toward their fresh food subscription (See the Terms & Conditions below, which also include simple instructions on how to redeem the box and credit).
Now, let’s meet some good dogs.

Pepperoni
Duffie’s Dames in Sebastian, FL
Approximate age: 7 years old
Approximate weight: 50 pounds
Maureen Baxter, a volunteer at Duffie’s Dames in Sebastian, Florida, remembers when she and her colleagues first met Pepperoni. “What struck us immediately,” she said, “was his gentleness.”
This was surprising to them because he lived for years in a vacant lot.
“We expected fear or hesitation. Instead, he showed a calm, soulful sweetness, like he was simply waiting for someone to finally see him,” she said. “[H]e came into rescue with a quiet dignity and a heart that somehow stayed open.”
A veteran had rescued Pepperoni from the empty lot. But, due to a change in circumstances, he had to surrender the dog.
Baxter said that Pepperoni is “deeply intuitive—the kind of dog who notices your mood and leans in just a little closer on the days you need comfort.”
Among his likes are car rides, easy walks, new smells, and a beam of sunshine. “Pepperoni doesn’t need much—just patience, kindness, and someone who wants a loyal companion by their side. In return, he offers a level of devotion that’s rare and incredibly special,” she said.
And we’re particularly thrilled to hear that Pepperoni has enjoyed The Farmer’s Dog food while at Duffie’s Dames. “Pepperoni has truly thrived on The Farmer’s Dog fresh food,” Baxter said. “It’s supported his energy, muscle tone, and overall well-being, and we’ve seen such a positive difference in him since he started it.”
Pepperoni would thrive in a quiet home with a secure, enclosed fence (he’s used to coming and going due to the years in the vacant lot). He is the “sweetest, most handsome boy—gentle, devoted, and ready to give his whole heart to the person who chooses him.”

Milo
Tiny Paws Rescue in Philadelphia, PA
Approximate age: 8 years old
Approximate weight: 20 pounds
Milo was on the euthanasia list at Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia for aggression when Tiny Paws director Kim Astringer (and a GoFundMe campaign) saved him. He did well in training and soon found a “constant companion” and “bromance” with a foster named Orville. They were together for five years. But, six months ago, Orville returned to his home country of Barbados after retiring, and sadly couldn’t bring Milo with him. So Milo is looking for his new forever home.
According to Michelle Reider, a volunteer at Tiny Paws, Milo is the “best boy” and “a lap dog that doesn’t stop at your lap. He climbs up onto your chest, and leans his body on your face. He’s trying to get as close to you as he possibly can!”
Milo loves people, and though he’s “not the biggest fan of dogs,” he’s “very tolerant of them” (he currently lives with ten other foster dogs and does well. His foster mom says he’s a “joy to have in the house.”). He plays beautifully with children and loves to run around a yard.
He’d do best with a confident owner who has a lot of love to give.

Blue
Twenty Paws Rescue in Jersey City, NJ
Approximate age: 5 to 7 years old
Approximate weight: 75 pounds
Blue has had a bit of a hard go of it, but has remained resilient and affectionate despite it all. Sabrina Szriftgiser, a volunteer and board member at Twenty Paws Rescue in Jersey City, New Jersey, said that Blue’s previous owners surrendered her to a local shelter after she had a litter of puppies. Then the family who adopted two of her puppies pulled her from the shelter and began fostering her.
“Blue would thrive in a house with structure,” Szriftgiser said. “She needs training to really become the best version of herself.” She’s entering that training now after testing showed she is reactive on the street and does some resource guarding.
Her ideal adopter is someone with dog experience, especially with reactive dogs. Beyond that, she’d love a yard to run in and an active adopter who also “enjoys endless snuggles together.” She’d be happiest as the only pet in the home, and benefits from slow introductions.
